The Choir membership is open to high school age and older singers and their choral music adds beauty and solemnity to the liturgy. The choir primarily sings at the 10:00 AM Sunday Mass and at various other special liturgies such as Christmas, Confirmation and liturgies during Holy Week. Choir rehearsals are held weekly from September through Pentecost on Thursdays. Instrumentalists are welcome to play for special celebrations with the adult choir. If you are interested in joining the choir, please contact Diane Rudolph at diane@saintrich.org or our Director of Music Ministry for the Hampton/Richland Grouping James Skalos at jims@scospgh.org.
Cantors lead the congregation in song at liturgy. They serve a vital role collaborating with the Director of Music Ministry to provide the music for worship. The Director of Music Ministry prepares sound recordings of all hymns and responses for the cantors.
The children’s choir is comprised of youth from grades 3 through 7. They lead the music at the Children’s Mass at 10:00 AM on the second Sunday of each month. They also assist at one of the Christmas Eve and Easter season Masses. Rehearsals are held on Monday and Thursday evenings during the months of October through Mother’s Day.
Children in grades K through 2 are invited to participate in the Cherub Choir. The children will learn the rudiments of music and singing through movement and song. The Cherubs sing early Christmas Eve Mass and Mother’s Day at the 10:00 AM Mass.
Adult and youth (grades 4 and up) handbell choirs add to the beauty of the music at special liturgical celebrations and at various Sunday liturgies during the year. Adult and Youth handbell rehearsals are on Monday evenings September through Pentecost.
